The Houdini is of the personal belief that if the Boston Celtics win the upcoming NBA Championship, this team is to be superglued together so that not a single element of this locker-room is removed from the equation.

That said, there are realities where the villain (Kyrie Irving) and his partner in crime (Kevin Durant) triumph or the Milwaukee Bucks/Miami Heat prove insurmountable once more from Boston’s perspective.

If that ends up happening, depending on the manner in which it happened, changes could be in store.

Nothing major, of course. The days of this writer speculating on a future without Marcus Smart are done given his recent NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. Ditto for if you think the ‘Jays’ will be mock traded anywhere by the author of this article.

That said, there are certain role players that aren’t expendable per say, but may be necessary for roster improvement due to salary. Derrick White and Daniel Theis, the two major trade deadline acquisitions this past February, are who I’m referring to.

NBA Analysis Network recently came up with two swaps that land Harrison Barnes involving White, and one with Theis:

"Trade No. 1Sacramento Kings Receive: G Derrick White, C/F Daniel TheisBoston Celtics Receive: F Harrison Barnes, F Maurice HarklessTrade No. 2Sacramento Kings Receive: F Bojan BogdanovicUtah Jazz Receive: G Derrick White, 2023 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected – SAC)Boston Celtics Receive: F Harrison Barnes"

Would the Boston Celtics consider these?

If I were in control of Brad Stevens’ neurological functions, I’d most certainly pull the trigger on both of these. Harrison Barnes has proven to be an ideal third-wheel before on a championship contender, and is a far more efficient shooter than Derrick White.

Good on N.A.N’s James Piercey for the suggestions, though it’d most certainly take more draft capital for the Kings to agree to this.

dark. Next. Who did Draymond Green credit for the C's Game 1 win?
