This Rockets-Wizards Trade Features Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Washington Wizards were certainly a surprising landing spot for Kristaps Porzingis ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline. There had been rumors that the Dallas Mavericks were looking to trade him, but anytime it was mentioned, Dallas would rebut the NBA trade rumors.

Well, it turned out the rumors were true, as Porzingis was heading back east to the Wizards. A second-round pick was also sent to Washington in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. It was a deal that surprised a lot of people and with good reason.

Dinwiddie and Bertans had both been playing poorly for Washington. Dinwiddie’s performance was a little more understandable, as he was coming back from a torn ACL. Bertans’ jump shot has abandoned him since re-signing in Washington, making him virtually unplayable as he doesn’t help in many other areas.

For Washington, it was a worthwhile risk. Porzingis possesses more upside than either of the players that they dealt away and they actually saved some long-term money. Bertans’ contract runs a season longer than the one Porzingis has.

What could a swap between the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets look like? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal that would send Kristaps Porzingis to Space City.
