Enthusiastic about what lies ahead for Mary Spencer (4-0, 3 KOs), Eye of The Tiger Management is raising the stakes and has sought out a worthy opponent for her May 28 fight at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

The Canadian Olympian and three-time amateur champion of the world will take on former IBF world champion Chris Namus (25-7, 8 KOs) in a scheduled 8-round middleweight fight in an event presented by United Boxing Promotions on the Punching Grace Network.

Not only will the Uruguayan prove to be a formidable challenge, she also provides Spencer with the opportunity to make significant headway in the world rankings.

“I’m very excited to be fighting a former world champion! I expect both of us to be in top shape and that will make a great fight,” declared Spencer when discussing the upcoming clash.

Namus is a known quantity in Québec, as she lost her IBF world belt to Marie-Eve Dicaire by unanimous decision in 2018. Namus has fought a total of 209 rounds in over 30 bouts, including 10 title fights. Her style and experience make her a good test for Spencer.

Tyler Buxton, promoter and president of United Boxing Promotions, witnessed Spencer’s spectacular KO in 23 seconds last March 26, and has no doubt at all that this will be an explosive confrontation.

“Adding Mary Spencer to our May 28th event is amazing, not too many professional boxers have the extensive background that she has. I was in Montreal for her last fight, she comes to fight from the opening bell….don’t blink!”
