Two players with Alabama basketball roots are among the NBA G League’s all-stars for the 2021-22 season.
The all-star selections announced on Monday had forward Braxton Key from Alabama on the all-star second team and guard Jared Harper from Auburn on the third team.
Key also was among the five players selected for the NBA G League’s All-Defensive team for the 2021-22 season.

Playing for the Delaware Blue Coats, Key averaged 18.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.5 blocks in 31 games.
Playing for the Birmingham Squadron, Harper averaged 21.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 32 games. Harper was a G League first-team selection last season, when he played for the Westchester Knicks.
Both players also appeared in NBA games this season. Key played in 11 games – two with the Philadelphia 76ers and nine with the Detroit Pistons -- and averaged 7.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks while playing 17.9 minutes. Harper had 37 points, 14 assists and four steals while playing 43 minutes in five games with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Key played for Alabama in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons before completing his college career with two seasons at Virginia. Harper’s first two seasons at Auburn coincided with Key’s seasons at Alabama, and Harper also played the 2018-19 season with the Tigers.
