Marco Rose singled out Julian Brandt for some praise after the playmaker delivered another impressive performance during Borussia Dortmund’s 6-1 win over Wolfsburg.

Fresh off his match-winning brace against VfB Stuttgart last week, Julian Brandt delivered another excellent performance on Saturday as he helped Borussia Dortmund claim a stunning 6-1 win over Wolfsburg.

Brandt helped set up three of his team’s six goals against Wolfsburg on Saturday, and his pass to set up Haaland’s second goal in the second half was especially sublime. Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose praised the German international after the game, but also said that there are some things that he needs to work on.

"“I think Jule is having a very decent season overall,” Rose said during his post-match press conference. “He did an excellent job in Stuttgart, and today he showed his quality once again. He’s a player who can really rouse up the stadium with a back heel. But he knows what the issues he needs to work on are, I know what his issues are. We’re working on it.”"

Saturday’s game saw Brandt return to the starting XI after coming off the bench in each of the last five games. The former Bayer Leverkusen man has been a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund this season, but he lost his place in the team in late February following a string of underwhelming performances.

Brandt has seven goals and ten assists to his name in 36 appearances so far this season, a fairly respectable tally for someone who is often criticised by supporters. The 25 year old has struggled to find consistency since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2019, and he hadn’t scored or assisted a goal since January before his brace against Stuttgart.

Reports have claimed in recent weeks that the Black and Yellows could look to sell Brandt this summer if they receive a suitable offer. But if the playmaker manages to end the season on a high, he can certainly stake a strong claim for a place in the squad ahead of next season.
