Pirates farm report for April 16, 2022: Rehabbing Anthony Alford doubles in Bradenton win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 6-3) lost by a field goal to St. Paul (Twins), 16-13. Four Indianapolis pitchers gave up at least three runs. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (8.53) started and surrendered five runs on five hits and three walks in 2.2 innings. LHP Cam Alldred (0-1, 5.06) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. 1B Mason Martin (.400) went 4 for 5 with a double, his second home run and his first stolen base. LF Cal Mitchell (.355) went 3 for 5 with a double, his third homer and four RBIs. RF Bligh Madris (.357) was 3 for 5. SS Oneil Cruz (.250) did not play.

Next: Sunday at St. Paul (Twins), 3:07 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 3-5) was doubled up by Richmond (Giants), 8-4. RHP Luis Ortiz (3.86) started and pitched effectively, giving up only two hits, including a solo home run, with six strikeouts in four innings. LHP Zach Matson (0-1, 6.75) took the loss, giving up four runs, two earned, on a hit and two walks, without recording an out. DH Connor Scott (.550) went 2 for 3 with a home run and a stolen base. 2B Nick Gonzales (.231) went 1 for 4 with a double, an RBI and three strikeouts. SS Liover Peguero (.240) went 0 for 5 with two Ks. RF Jack Suwinski (.261) was 1 for 2 with a double and two walks.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 3-5) dispatched Winston-Salem (White Sox), 10-5. LF Sammy Siani (.318) went 2 for 5 with a three-run homer, his second. 2B Maikol Escotto (.214) was 2 for 5 with a solo homer, his third, and a stolen base. 3B Jackson Glenn (.455) went 4 for 4 with a double. C Henry Davis (.286) went 2 for 5 with a triple and an RBI and stole a base. CF Hudson Head (.273) finished 3 for 5 with two RBIs. 1B Abrahan Gutierrez (.25) was 3 for 6 with a double. RHP Nick Garcia (2-0, 1.23) got the win, giving up one run on three hits in 4.1 innings of relief, fanning four.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 6-2) edged Lakeland (Tigers), 6-5. LF Anthony Alford (.333), beginning a rehab assignment for a wrist injury, went 1 for 3 with a double. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.591) went 3 for 4 with a home run, his second. RF Mike Jarvis (.313) was 2 for 4 with a double. 3B Alexander Mojica (.348) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. RHP Po-Yun Chen (3.68) started and went 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits with four walks. RHP Dante Mendoza (2-0, 1.80) was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on two hits, including a solo homer, in 2.2 innings. RHP Xavier Concepcion (0.00) worked two scoreless innings to earn the save.
