CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central baseball hosted Houston County on Thursday. The Indians came into the matchup with two wins in a row; before the night was over, they would extend their winning streak with a 10-0 victory.

Every phase of the game was working in Montgomery Central’s favor, particularly their defensive capability.

During an earlier Indians’ two-game series against White House High, the team limited their opponent to four hits and one run allowed. Their effective pitching carried over into Thursday’s game. As a collective unit, Dakoda Kessler, Payton Sanders and Landon Welborn combined to throw a no-hitter. Throughout six innings of play, the pitching trio struck out 11 batters and only walked one opponent.

In addition, Montgomery Central was productive on offense throughout the contest as well. Eleven batters contributed to the 17 total team hits. The batting order also showcased their power with four doubles.

Overview

“The team’s pitching has been great all year, and if you look at the last three games played, we have allowed zero earned runs allowed,” Montgomery Central head coach Todd Dunn said. “In hindsight, our hitting is starting to come alive as well. Offensive production has been a problem for us at times this year, but assistant coach Eric Blackwell has implemented new drills which our players have bought into. It has transformed and changed our approach at the plate.”

Montgomery Central High travels to Eagleville High to take on the Eagles on Friday, April 15. The Indians look to hand the Eagles’ their first loss on the season, as the team tries to keep their own winning streak alive.
