Baltimore City State's Attorney, Marilyn Mosby, will go to trial. This comes after a federal judge rejected all three motions from her defense team in the first pre-trial hearing.
These motions included a motion to dismiss the case against Mosby, to disqualify Leo Wise as the lead prosecutor in the case, and a request for a "Bill of Particulars", which would provide more details about the charges Mosby is facing.
From the beginning, Mosby claimed that the case against her is politically and racially motivated.
Today, the morning show sat down with Kim Klacik, WBAL Radio Host, to talk about Mosby's actions leading up to the City State's Attorney race.
"What she has claimed is that everything is so false," said Klacik. "But at the end of the day, what they have is in writing. She filled out forms falsely claiming that she had hardship during COVID, and we know there is also a recorded phone call that we'll probably hear later on in the case. This is just sad news for the voters and her supporters. I think she should step down while this goes on so that we can focus, in the city, on the homicides and crime rate and getting repeat violent offenders off the street."
Mosby does have a large group of supporters. However, Klacik doesn't think they will be enough to win Mosby the re-election.
"You will always have your supporters that will believe in you," said Klacik. "The facts against her are there, there's evidence. She will continue to tell her base and the public that she's innocent, but at the end of the day I don't think everyone's going to buy it when it comes down to re-electing her in November."
