John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has shot down any talk of his son retiring in the aftermath of his upcoming fight.

On April 23 at Wembley Stadium in London, Fury will make a mandatory defense against Dillian Whyte.

Last month, Fury expressed his desire to retire from the sport after his upcoming assignment.

“This is the final fight of my career. I’m retiring after this. $150 million in the bank, healthy, young, I’m gonna buy a massive yacht abroad. I’m retiring, I’m out, this is my final fight, I’m done," Fury said.

However, it's not the first or second time where Fury discussed retirement.

John Fury expects his son to continue fighting.

“Bullsh!t. Tyson is as mad as a box of frogs, where’s he gonna go without boxing? Boxing’s his life,” John Fury told Talk Sport.

“Tyson’s the biggest wind-up merchant in the world, people should know him by now. He’s probably had the best camp he’s ever had.” the 57-year-old said. “His weights bang on, he’s as fit as a fiddle and he’s raring to go.

“We’re focused solely on this fight more than any other I think, because we know what’s at stake, we know what we’ve got to do and it’s a mission to get rid of Dillian Whyte in fantastic fashion and style.”

Should Fury win, he would be in line for a full division unification with the winner of the scheduled rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, who will battle for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight belts on a date in June or July.
