Jonas Kaufmann Awarded Corelli100 Prize

The inaugural Corelli100 Prize is set to be awarded to Jonas Kaufmann.

The tenor will receive the prize on April 24 in Ancona which will be awarded by the Fondazione Teatro dell Muse. The prize is awarded to a person who has distinguished himself in the world of opera. The Fondazione said, “that Kaufmann represents the reference interpreter in the lyric repertoire and is recognized globally around the world.”

Kaufmann recently made his role debut as Calaf in “Turandot” and completed a tour with Diana Damrau and Helmut Deutsch. He is currently in Italy preparing a production of “Tosca” at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

Franco Corelli was born in Ancona and went on to become one of the great tenors of his generation and performed at every major opera house in the world including the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera House.
