Dirk Nowitzki is the great Dallas Mavericks player to ever grace the court.
Few people argue that point and understand and respect his place in Mavs’ history.
However, it sounds like many of the current generation of fans are moving onto the newest Dallas sensation: Luka Doncic.
Nowitzki shared a charming, hysterical story about Doncic recently, saying “German friends that come visit always buy jerseys. I say: hold on let me get a sharpie and they say: ‘Oh no. That’s OK. This is actually Luka’s. Do you mind getting it signed?'”
If Nowitzki has to hand over the baton to anyone, at least it is to Doncic who is genuinely one of the best young talents in the league.
Luka’s League
Doncic really is as special as people say.
He’s a guard that moves with speed, skill, and an ability to make a shot from nearly anywhere on the court.
This season, he is averaging 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game and has become the most important part of the team.
This year, the Mavs are ending the regular season as the fourth seed in the West and stand a chance at a deeper playoff run than they have in years.
However, they have to start things off without Doncic.
As he is prone to do, Doncic got injured right as the season ended and is currently out for an indefinite amount of time.
Fans are hoping that he comes back as soon as possible and maybe only misses one or two games.
However, there is a chance Doncic could be out for longer than that – which could spell certain doom for the team’s chances.
