DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit's top blighted properties are being targeted by Mayor Mike Duggan and his administration.

The City of Detroit said they're laser-focused on cleaning up the city and changing its image, so the Department of Neighborhoods has created a M100 list, which contains 118 vacant properties -- mostly commercial and industrial.

The goal of this list is to remove the urban decay through demolition, redevelopment, or through legal action and code enforcement through the courts.

"It was incredibly important that we not only make this list, but that we adhere to this list to ensure that we're really making a tangible and visible difference in our city," said Antoine Bryant, City of Detroit's Director of Planning and Development.

Bryant said the there will be properties in every council district and all throughout the city to ensure that a difference is being made across the entire area.

"One of the things that I've shared publicly and privately is that easily within a couple of years no one is going to associate Detroit with blight," he said.

The city said the list is subject to change, but it represents the current top blighted properties identified by the city administration, along with the Department of Neighborhoods.

Officials said identifying the properties was a massive "multi-departmental project."
