The former Liberty University president took to Twitter late Tuesday night to share some of his thoughts on his ousting.
Jerry Falwell, Jr., says the termination of his contract with Liberty University was "just a power grab, plain and simple."
He tweeted out this picture which shows a ranking of Liberty's campus. Falwell says the current leaders are trying to revise Liberty's history.
He said the leaders that took over in 2020 are trying to erase his 33 years of work. He goes on to say, "They are even twisting my dad's words to their view of LU's mission not his or mine."
In two follow-up tweets, he claimed the current leaders of LU "seized power" and says his contract was terminated without cause. He maintains that he had not violated any LU rules for the staff or the terms of his contract.
"I had not violated any LU rules for staff or the terms of my contract," Falwell says, "AND my contract was terminated for good reason by me because LU had violated my contract by placing me on temporary leave."
Liberty asked Falwell to take a leave of absence on August 7, 2020, shortly after he posted a picture with a woman who he called his wife's assistant, with both of their pants unzipped.
A few weeks later, the Washington Examiner posted a statement from Falwell who said that his wife, Becki, had an affair with a former family friend.
Falwell said he was seeking mental health counseling to aid in dealing with the affair, which he claims he had no role in.
Following the fallout, Jerry Prevo took on the role of president of Liberty University.
