Second Annual Run the Runway 5K at Augusta Regional Airport
Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is thrilled to announce the Second Annual Run the Runway 5K!. AGS will host the second Run the Runway 5K on March 18, 2023. The course starts on Lock and Dam Road and winds through the beautiful New Savannah Bluff Lock & Dam Park before it takes you onto the Airports’ actual runway and taxiway. The proceeds of the race will benefit military children through the non-profit organization, Operation Teammate.

Augusta University College of Nursing Chair, Mother Create Student Scholarship
A 1952 article in The Augusta Chronicle described the late Marguerite Stark Stelling as a “person of vivid personality and charm.”. Stelling had just been named Georgia’s most outstanding clubwoman, for her work with the Junior Women’s Clubs of Georgia. This accomplishment is one of many that inspired Stelling’s granddaughter, Elizabeth NeSmith, PhD, and daughter, Martha Hawkins, to establish the Stelling Leadership Award at Augusta University’s College of Nursing to honor Stelling and support promising nursing PhD students through scholarly leadership development.

Students attending area technical colleges can now participate in the new Apprenticeship School at the Savannah River Site (SRS) created by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). New Assistant Dean Sees Great Potential for Growth at Augusta University, The Graduate School
Elena Dent, PhD, originally set out to be a communications journalism major. She then took a physiology course and was fascinated by its study and research opportunities. After years of overcoming her own educational and personal obstacles, Dent said she is proud to join Augusta University as assistant dean of The Graduate School. According to Dean Jennifer Sullivan, PhD, her work will directly align with the university’s Strategic Plan on increasing enrollment and increasing the research presence.
