Josh Allison, Hillsboro

The junior distance runner helped the Hawks capture first place with 161.5 points at the 74th annual Mineral Area Relays at Herculaneum on Saturday. Allison won the 800-meter run in 1:58.67 and the 1,600 in 4:25.01. Allison and his twin brother, Jonah, also ran legs on Hillsboro’s first-place 4x800 relay team that clocked 8:09.83, almost 13 seconds better than second place. Josh finished sixth in the Class 4 state cross country championships last year.

Jace Peterson, Eureka

The junior swept the sprint events at the Eureka Boys Wildcat Classic on April 8. Peterson was first in the 100-meter dash in 12.08 seconds, won in the 200 in 24.0 and captured the 400 in 52.78. Eureka won the team championship with 200 points.
