WJSN Bona opened up about Twenty Five Twenty One and the love she has for Kim Tae Ri after working with her.
The K-pop idol starred in the drama as Na Hee Do’s rival, Go Yu Rim. She is a national fencing athlete who ends up changing her nationality and moving to Russia after her parents’ debt continues to grow. The decision makes her suffer from public condemnation.
She worked with Kim Tae Ri, who plays the role of aspiring fencer Na Hee Do. Meanwhile, Nam Joo Hyuk stars as Baek Yi Jin, a reporter whose family faces a financial crisis.
After working with Kim Tae Ri, the WJSN member recently spoke about her co-star and why she chose Kim Tae Ri’s character as her favorite.
WJSN Bona Says She Loves Kim Tae Ri As Senior
The K-pop star recently sat for an interview with Newsen (via Naver) and revealed that her meeting with Kim Tae Ri through the drama was “fate.”
Per Bona, she learned a lot through Kim Tae Ri, who has been part of the TV and film industry for years before she debuted as an actress.
“She always asked me, ‘Is there anything uncomfortable? Should I do this for you?’ so thanks to her, I was able to follow comfortably in her steps. She’s such a great [acting] senior. I kept thinking that I want to become a senior like her one day. I enjoyed everything we did together,” she said.

She also gave Kim Tae Ri’s character, Na Hee Do, the same amount of love as she chose the lead character her favorite. She recalled having most scenes with Na Hee Do, and Bona was reportedly moved by the character’s emotions.
Due to Na Hee Do’s honest and ambitious’ nature, the I Wish singer said she hopes she has a friend like the character.
Bona Says Twenty Five Twenty One Has Bittersweet Ending
It was not always a happy ending as Bona herself witnessed the K-drama’s bittersweet ending. As Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin seemingly did not end up together, viewers started to ask what could have been if everything had worked out for them.
But for Bona, the ending suit Twenty Five Twenty One, and it offered a different kind of finale to viewers.
“Isn’t it a story about youth? Instead of saying that it’s not a happy ending because the romance isn’t fulfilled, I figure that it’s a happy ending that draws out their individual lives in the best way possible as they show that there are these kinds of people, and those kinds of people. As there is affection, I think it’ll be that much more memorable. I hope that all the characters live happily and well,” she went on.
WJSN Bona is yet to get a new TV role, but fans can watch her and WJSN in Queendom 2.
