The family of the boy who fell tragically to his death in an Orlando theme park last month says they were lied to by an R&B singer from Florida.
According to reports, the family is claiming that YK Osiris, a Def Jam signed artist from Jacksonville, used the death of 14-year-old Tyre Sampson “for pure clout.”
He did not, they say, follow through on a promise to make a large donation to help fund his funeral.
Osiris, 23, whose real name is Osiris Williams, responded over the weekend by reportedly posting a screen shot of a donation of $15,000 he made to a Go Fund Me set up for Sampson’s family.
Sampson’s brother, however, took to social media and wrote, “YK Osiri or whatever dude name is cancelled. Used lil bro for pure clout. Didn’t pay a dime but told the world otherwise,” according to News 4 Jax.
The station said Sampson’s brother also claimed Osiris, whose real name is Osiris Williams, faked the screen shot of the donation to the Go Fund Me.
Sampson fell to his death while on the “Free Fall” ride at Orlando’s ICON Park back on March 24 in a tragedy which drew national attention. Shortly after, Osiris asked his 3 million Instagram followers to help him get in touch with the family and he reportedly offered to pay funeral costs.
New 4 Jax said that Sampson’s mother, Nekia Dodd, responded to Sampson’s brother’s post about Osiris writing, “And he blocked me on IG too!”
The station said Williams appeared to respond to the allegations by writing “Why me? I’m not even that type of person fr. I will never play around like that NEVER.”
Osiris reportedly also shared a post that explains why it may take several days for a Go Fund Me donation to appear in the account.
