MONTREAL -- The Canadiens recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau from the AHL's Laval Rocket on Sunday.

The move comes after Jake Allen suffered a lower-body injury against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night in Toronto, which forced him to leave the game in the first period.
Sam Montembeault handled the goaltending duties the rest of the way.
Primeau, 22, has appeared in 12 games with Montreal this season.
The American netminder has also compiled a 15-10-3 record in 30 games with Laval this year, along with a 2.87 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage, and two shutouts.

Primeau stopped 34 of 37 shots in a 5-3 victory over the Utica Comets on Saturday at Place Bell.
