Sun Country Dance Theatre 14th Annual Spring Youth Concert: 2:30 p.m. today, Phillips Center, 3201 Hull Road. Tickets: $15 general admission, free ages 11 and younger when purchased through the box office. (performingarts.ufl.edu, 392-ARTS, 800-905-ARTS) The return of Sun Country Dance Theatre’s original story ballet, which premiered in 2013, will highlight the production. Choreographed to the music of Tchaikovsky, this enchanting ballet has been adapted from the fairy tale and follows Little Red throughout many adventures on her birthday.

51st Anniversary Celebration of Black Thursday: 7:15 p.m. Thursday, University of Florida campus. Free; registration required. Santa Fe Springs Plein Air Paintout Artist Reception: 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies, 23645 W. U.S. 27, High Springs. The exhibit of the Paintout finished pieces runs Friday-May 21.

EASTER EVENTS

Easter  Extravaganza: 1-4 p.m. today, Butler Town Center. Free. Family friendly fun  with a whimsical twist on Alice in Wonderland. Embark on a fantastical journey down the rabbit hole and enter the magical wonderland brought to life by Keith Watson Events.  Performances include DancINK by Davis, Danscompany of Gainesville, Southern Rhythm Cloggers, IndepenDANCE Studio, Sun Country Gymnastics, Celebration Suzuki Strings and Gainesville Big Band. Attendees can take photos with the famous characters from the Mad Hatter Tea Party. There will be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and festive decor. 

Haile Village Center Easter Eggstravaganza: 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Haile Village Center. Easter egg hunt with prizes, bounce houses and the Easter Bunny. 

Easter Egg Hunt: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 3250 NE 140th Ave., Williston. Admission: $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Various age groups and 18+, photos with Easter Bunny, egg relay race. Easter stories and more.

Easter Extravaganza: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Wilson Robinson Park, 13975 SW 174th St., Archer. Free. Food, games, egg hunt, bike giveaway and $1 cake walk. All proceeds will go to missions.

High Springs Chamber Easter Bunny Parade and Egg Hunt: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, 23760 NW 187th Ave., High Springs. Meet the Easter Bunny at the High Springs museum, downtown stores will give sweet treats, the Easter egg hunt will be held behind the chamber office. Lunch will be provided by High Springs Lions Club.

Micanopy Easter Community Day In The Park and Egg Hunt: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Micanopy Baseball Field, 354 NW Seventh Terrace, Micanopy. Easter egg hunt, candy eggs, egg dying, face painting, games, free food and more.

EXHIBITS

"Science Up Close: Fantastic Fossils": Open now, Florida Museum of Natural History, 3215 Hull Road. Admission: $7 adults; $6.50 Florida residents, seniors and non-University of Florida college students; $4.50 ages 3 to 17; free to museum members, children ages 2 and younger and UF students with a valid Gator 1 Card. (floridamuseum.ufl.edu/visit/plan, floridamuseum.ufl.edu/exhibits/fantastic-fossils, 846-2000) The exhibition is a collaborative endeavor linking the museum’s exhibits and collections staff, giving people a look at never-before-seen specimens and real fossils. Researchers from the vertebrate paleontology, invertebrate paleontology and paleobotany collections will be in the exhibit as part of its working lab, providing a glimpse into the daily life of curators, collection managers, students and volunteers.

“Unapologetic!”: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through 2022, the Cotton Club, 837 SE Seventh Ave. (cottonclubmuseum.com/events) Exhibition of the the work of local artist Yvonne Ferguson. The exhibit features images of cultural and human rights icons as well as notable and groundbreaking musicians.
