LOWELL — Middlesex Community College Foundation’s Celebrity Forum will return in June with Oscar and Grammy award-winning singer, actress and author Darlene Love.

Love will perform at Lowell Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. on June 6. A donor reception and dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event provide support for scholarships for Middlesex students.

“One of the greatest barriers our students face in getting their education is financial, and the MCC Foundation continues to play a vital role in helping to ease the burden of not being able to afford college for so many,” said MCC President Phil Sisson. “The event will be a great way to bring the community together to celebrate the success of Middlesex students. I am looking forward to witnessing a tremendous performance and having the opportunity to speak to this amazing talent about her lived experience and professional journey.”

Love has been called “one of the greatest singers of all time” by Rolling Stone and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Love was the lead singer of The Blossoms and also recorded as a solo artist.

This year’s Celebrity Forum is the first in-person event since 2019. The 2020 forum was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and last year’s event was held virtually.

“We are ecstatic to bring back our Celebrity Forum and welcome such an enigmatic performer in Darlene Love to the college,” said MCC Executive Director of Advancement Judy Burke. “The work that the MCC Foundation does is critical to our students’ success, providing them with the funds to attend and complete their education. We are so thankful to all of our donors for their incredible generosity and support, and we are so looking forward to coming together for an exciting evening of music and cultural enrichment, all in the name of student scholarship.”
