Amazon has secured its leads for “Ending Things,” quite an interesting-sounding action film the studio is putting together.
Deadline reports that Amazon Studios has selected Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“The Matrix: Resurrections“) and Anthony Mackie (“The Falcon & The Winter Soldier”) to lead a new film based on a spec script from Kevin Sullivan. The studio secured the rights to the project after beating out competitors that were also trying to acquire it, which should indicate how good the script must be.

“Ending Things” is said to be similar to the James Cameron action-comedy “True Lies” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis as a married couple that has to thwart a group of terrorists after they get their hands on nukes, which was itself an English remake of the French film “La Totale!.”
Here’s how the outlet describes “Ending Things” as it looks to switch the roles around a little:
“A hit-woman who wants out of the assassin business tells her ‘business’ partner that she’s ending their personal relationship as well. But she comes to realize she doesn’t want to end that part of their bond. In order to survive the breakup – and their last job together – they must join forces for one last night out.
Mackie is best known for his superhero role as Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is expected to lead “Captain America 4” after the mantle was passed down to him by the end of the Disney+ series “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.” It’s unclear when “Captain America 4” will go in front of cameras but work is underway on a script.
A director wasn’t named for “Ending Things” and the production timeline was unspecified, but given the high-profile cast they’ll likely end up pursuing someone with action chops to tackle it.
