Portland Timbers ink contract extension with midfielder Marvin Loría

Timbers midfielder Marvin Loria pushes the ball ahead as the Portland Timbers face Real Salt Lake in the MLS Western Conference final at Providence Park on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021.

Securing another young player for the long haul, the Portland Timbers announced Wednesday they had signed 24-year-old midfielder Marvin Loría to a contract extension through 2024 that includes a club option year in 2025.

Loría is in his fourth season with the club and played one season with T2 in 2018. Originally from Costa Rica, he has started in 31 of 65 games for the Timbers and notched four goals along with nine assists. He made his first appearance for the Costa Rican national team in 2019.

Loría has appeared in just three of Portland’s matches so far this season and played a total of 19 minutes.
