Mariners-Twins opener postponed, moved to Friday

The Seattle Mariners season-opening game at the Minnesota Twins, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, April 7, has been postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather in Minneapolis, the Twins announced today.

The Mariners and Twins will instead play the season-opener on Friday, April 8 at 1:10 PM (PT). The four-game season-opening series will now run Friday, April 8-Monday April 11, followed by three games (April 12-14) in Chicago.

ROOT Sports will televise the lid-lifter, with a special one-hour pre-game show beginning at 12 PM (PT) on Friday. First pitch is schedule for 1:10 PM (PT) with Dave Sims and Mike Blowers on the call.

Seattle Sports (710 AM) and the Mariners Radio Network will broadcast the game. The Voice of the Mariners, Rick Rizzs and Aaron Goldsmith will handle radio play-by-play. Pre-game show on Seattle Sports (710 AM) will begin at noon.

Defending American League Cy Young Award Winner Robbie Ray is scheduled to start for Seattle opposite Twins right-hander Joe Ryan.

Home Opener
The Mariners home opener will be played on Friday, April 15, versus the Houston Astros. While that game is sold out, tickets are available for the remaining eight games on the homestand.

There are five Value Games during the Opening Homestand, (4/16, 4/17, 4/19, 4/20, 4/21). Fans can get tickets for as low as $10.
