Gallagher scored a goal on two shots, assisted on a power-play tally and was assessed 12 PIM in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Senators.

Gallagher was back on the ice after missing eight games due to a lower-body injury and skated a lot of fourth-line minutes in 5-on-5 situations. Montreal's spiritual leader kept his role on the power-play unit as well. He wasted little time making an impact, scoring the game's first goal a little more than two minutes into the first period. Gallagher was positioned, where else, in front of the net and pounced on a rebound of a Jake Evans shot. Prior to the goal, he was heavily involved on the forecheck to keep Ottawa bottled up in its own end. The 29-year-old forward later assisted on Cole Caufield's goal. Gallagher was eventually bounced from the game when he picked up a roughing penalty followed by a misconduct with one minute left in the third period.
