Amidst criticism for how Boudin has managed his office and backlash over recent cases, Boudin is facing the recall head on.

His strategy for countering the recall efforts is to go out, in person, and discuss the issues with the city’s voters.

"I'm out there, all day, every day, doing as many events as my schedule can possibly allow, often multiple events every evening," said Boudin.

Boudin also highlighted that his office has been doing everything they can to address the city's crime.

"My entire office is working to keep San Francisco safe, to make San Francisco safer, and to ensure that the people of San Francisco know about the work we're doing every day to promote justice and to advance safety," he said.

Over the last couple of years that he’s been in office, he said that homicide conviction rates have gone up, he launched an innocence commission and created a worker protection unit.

But there is a strong movement to remove Boudin from his post. According to the recall campaign's website, burglaries went up during Boudin’s first year in office, as well prosecutor resignations from the DA's office.

The site also accuses Boudin of refusing to hold serial offenders and drug dealers accountable. And a recent poll commissioned by the campaign suggests that more than two-thirds of likely voters would likely vote to recall Boudin.

The recall campaign did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
