Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Darrel Williams is still searching for a place to land for the 2022 regular season, and the Arizona Cardinals are the latest team to express an interest by having him in for a visit on Monday, per NFL reporter Field Yates.

Last season, Williams reached the 1,000 yards from scrimmage mark for the first time in his career. He set career marks in carries (144), rushing yards (588), and touchdowns (6) on the ground while doing the same as a pass-catcher out of the backfield with 47 catches for 562 yards and 2 more scores.

Williams hit free agency after putting together a breakout for the season for the Chiefs in the wake of other injuries in the backfield. It completed an impressive ascent up the depth chart for Williams, who first signed with the Chiefs back in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of LSU.

The Arizona Cardinals are the latest team to check in on former Kansas City Chiefs running back Darrel Williams in free agency.

It was a bit surprising that the Chiefs have shown so little interest in bringing back Williams, at least on the public front, and they’ve moved on after signing Ronald Jones away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cardinals have James Conner on the roster, but there’s definitely room for another addition after losing Chase Edmonds to the Miami Dolphins in free agency. Williams is a tough runner who has proven to be very coachable at the pro level with better-than-expected hands to round out his skill set.
