Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 16 Recap
Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 16 sees Yi-jin making the most difficult decision that may affect his relationship with Hee-do. The situation in New York exhausts Yi-jin, but deep inside, he had this strong sense of responsibility that he should do his job properly as a reporter.
Witnessing firsthand the catastrophes occurring because of the war, Yi-jin wanted to stay for a few months to continue helping the victims by extending his influence as a reporter to gather more help for them.
However, this decision was of no advantage to Hee-do, who had been waiting for Yi-jin for a long time. Hee-do has constantly made efforts to cheer Yi-jin in New York mentally but she suddenly realizes that her support is no longer reach him.
Two months later, Ji-ung now has his own website wherein he uploads photos of fashionable people. Yu-rim also returns to South Korea and asks him if he wants to have dinner with her family.
Yi-jin also goes back to South Korea to arrange his documents and attend to things before he properly takes on his job as a New York respondent.
At the same time, Hee-do was returning home after her match, and her bag accidentally got mixed up with Yi-jin’s as they were still using their couple luggages.

Seven years later, Hee-do’s mother decided to retire from being a UBS anchor and is set to choose her successor. Knowing Yi-jin’s potential, she recommends him and debates that his 10-year experience with UBS makes him even more worthy of being the new anchor.
Yi-jin finally succeeded in bringing his family back together. He bought them a new house and now has a stable job that will comfortably provide for himself and his family.
On the other hand, Hee-do meets her coach and asks for advice if she should retire from fencing after the San Francisco match. Like when Hee-do was in high school, Chanmi let her do what her heart told her and promised that she would support her decision no matter what.
Meanwhile, Hee-do, Yu-rim, and Ji-ung gathered together to visit Seung-wan’s father’s funeral. It was the first time that the four met each other, and it was unfortunate how they only got a chance when someone dies.

Twenty Five Twenty One Ending Explained
Back to the present, the owner of the bookstore where Hee-do rents her comics accidentally sees a package addressed to her. It turns out that Yi-jin left the diary in the bookstore and asked the owner to give it to Hee-do when she happens to pass by.
The bookstore owner visits Hee-do's home and sees Min-chae. She checks what's inside and finds the missing diary that might complete the story she has been following as she read her mother's past.
However, Min-Chae decides to not open the diary. She tells Hee-do that she will return to do ballet as she wishes to experience what her mother had during her youth.
Twenty Five Twenty One Ending then sees the present Hee-do visiting the tunnel where her youth experienced rollercoaster emotions, and at the same time learned lots of lessons.
Even though Yi-jin and Hee-do did not end up together, the series taught us that love is not enough to make a relationship last. It would be best to have effective communication and a never-ending trust.
Yijin and Heedo's relationship pushed them to do better, to be better. It's just that the base of their relationship was their unconditional support for each other, yet it slowly became a burden.
Nevertheless, Twenty Five Twenty One was a good drama filled with lessons. It tackles the reality, the ups and downs of life, the rarity of friendship, the disgusting side of education, learning to fight for what is right, the pressure of setting your own place in society, and the beauty of youth.
Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 16 may not see Yijin and Heedo ending up together, but the two's connection was way deeper than a romantic relationship, which may be the best ending for it.
