Morbius: Tyrese Gibson Fooled by Fake Martin Scorsese Review Calling the Film as 'Truest Height of Cinema'

While Morbius had a decent performance at the box office during its opening weekend, its critical reviews have been abysmal making it one of the lowest-rated Marvel movies on Rotten Tomatoes. The film's negative reception has been a subject of discussions by a lot of fans online and it has resulted in several memes and sarcastic jokes including fake reviews. However, it seems that one of its stars actually fell for it.

Last weekend, Tyrese Gibson, who plays Simon Stroud in the film, posted on Instagram a screenshot of a fake review from legendary director Martin Scorsese praising Morbius as "the truest height of cinema" and also "apologize to all comic book movies" which is in reference to his criticisms of the genre in the past. In his caption, the actor congratulated director Daniel Espinosa for getting the "praise" from the "king of kings of cinema."

The post was taken down by Gibson not long after although a lot of people have already seen or screenshot it. You can check it below (via Culture Crave):

It is hilarious to hear this story that Gibson actually posted it on his social media account which has millions of followers and thought that Scorsese actually praised the film even though it is obvious that the post was just fake. Perhaps he saw the comments on the post and messages from his team that the review was actually false which is why he took it down immediately.

This also comes after the fact that Morbius continues to receive negative reviews from the critics and the actor thought that "Scorsese's post" would have been a great validation of the film. Of course, it's all just a simple mistake and it is a lesson learned for him next time to double-check the reviews that he'll counter especially if it's allegedly from a prominent figure.

Right now, it is unknown yet what the future of Morbius is in Sony's Spider-Man Universe franchise although, as hinted by the post-credits scenes which still confuses a lot of fans, it looks like he is bound to do "some good" in the future even though the way they set it up is very questionable.
