It was on Britain's Got Talent in 2009 that Susan Boyle was introduced to the world as an unlikely musical legend when she appeared on stage in front of Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell.

Les Miserables' "I Dreamed a Dream" was the first song she belted out, amidst laughs and jeers. Almost everyone in the house rose to their feet in an attempt to offer her an enthusiastic standing ovation. As the saying goes, history had already been made.

Once Boyle stunned the globe and wowed all three judges, her music career naturally took off and was headed for the stars. It was an incredible story unfolding -  a shorthand typist's daughter from a miner's family becoming a multi-millionaire in just one year.

Susan Boyle 2022: Where is the Singer Now?

From being everywhere to nowhere, that is what most Susan Boyle felt for sometime now. Where is she and had she retired?

Her absence can be explained by none other than the coronavirus it seems. Retirement? If she has her way, she will not be retiring anytime soon.

As the coronavirus swept throughout the globe in the first few weeks of March 2020, Susan fled to a state of quarantine. Susan, a type-2 diabetic, followed the recommendation of her doctor to isolate herself because her condition made her more vulnerable to contracting the deadly illness.

Susan Boyle Retired?

It appears that Boyle has no intention of retiring any time in the near future. After all, she once said she wanted to sing like Elaine Paige, who she idolizes, until she's seventy years old. In her BGT audition, Boyle told the audience that she aspired to be like Paige, which amused the audience.

Few paid attention to her, but as soon as she started singing, it was clear that it's not that impossible.

Susan Boyle struggled just as much as the rest of the world throughout her time of solitude.

Boyle said that she's had days where she's felt down, caught in a rut, bored, or like she was staring at the same four walls over and over again, she pointed out that everyone has been there. Susan immunized herself in March 2021, which was a major step toward returning to the stage.

Susan Boyle Instagram Too Quiet

At the height of the vaccination drive on Instagram, Boyle wrote, "Monday felt for the first time like there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is so much disinformation surrounding the vaccine but I encourage you to go out and get the vaccine when it's available to you. I am grateful for science, grateful for medicine and especially grateful to the wonderful NHS nurses and doctors."

At present, the specifics of Susan's return remain up in the air though. There was a source back in November 2021 who told The Sun that the singer is slated to perform in a string of shows in Las Vegas in 2021. It is now apparent that this did not happen - but given how the pandemic is far from over, the reason could well be beyond Boyle's control.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the 60-year-old actor however, was announced to be making a  special guest appearance on the show "Shieldinch."

The episode, which debuts on the BBC Scotland channel on Monday December 6, shows the Suzie Fraser (played by Juliet Cadzow) becoming stunned when Susan Boyle steps in front of the camera to become a model for a charity photoshoot raising funds for the Molly's Corner Cafe.

Since this announcement of her being part of the show was also posted on her IG, and this was her very last post, here's to hoping Boyle will come back soon with a new update on where she is now and what she'll be offering to her fans next.
