Warren was named by manager David Bell as one of a large number of closer candidates Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Warren looked like one of the top options in the absence of Lucas Sims (elbow), and that's now been confirmed by his manager. Warren's 1.29 ERA and 41.5 percent strikeout rate last season certainly look like closer material, though that came in just 21 innings. It's possible the Reds go with a veteran instead, with Luis Cessa, Hunter Strickland and Justin Wilson all reportedly in the mix.
