The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-2 tornado caused a considerable amount of damage as it moved through Madison Parish on Wednesday. Moving at 115 miles per hour and at an estimated 300 feet wide, NWS meteorologist Alan Campbell says the south side of Tallulah took the biggest hit.
“A combination of downed trees as well, damaged trees, several homes having minor to moderate roof damage, as well as shingle loss,” said Campbell.
Campbell says Tallulah Academy took a direct hit as the twister tore apart the school.
“Large section of the roof taken off as well as peeled back,” said Campbell.
A nearby ballpark was also several damaged.
And Campbell says there’s the potential for more severe weather early next week.
“From the time frame Monday night into Tuesday another strong storm system will push through the area, it is going to bring the potential for severe weather,” said Campbell.
