Saturday Night Live hasn’t aired a new episode since the middle of March. Is tonight the night SNL season 47 finally continues?

Fans last got new sketches from SNL on March 12 when The Batman star Zoe Kravitz hosted. After that episode, the show went on another hiatus ahead of the season’s stretch run.

And that run starts this week. Yes, there will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Comedian Jerrod Carmichael will make his SNL debut as host. He’ll be joined by musical guest Gunna.

Carmichael starred in his own sitcom, The Carmichael Show, on NBC from 2015 to 2017. He’s the director and star of the 2021 film On the Count of Three. His HBO comedy special Rothaniel made headlines when the comedian came out as gay.

What to expect from Saturday Night Live tonight

Saturday Night Live has a lot to catch up on tonight. So much has happened since the show was last on the air, leaving fans eager to see how SNL responds.

Cold opens have tried to find humor in the war in Ukraine. However, it seems unlikely SNL will go back to that topic outside of “Weekend Update.” The confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson offered the kind of material SNL typically devours.

The world is still talking about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. The event seems like it could make for an entertaining cold open. Fans can also bet that Colin Jost and Michael Che will weigh in, too.

SNL fans are also anticipating the return of Pete Davidson. The comedian missed the last few shows as he filmed a horror movie. The drama involving Davidson, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West appears to have calmed down. Davidson reportedly prevented SNL from mocking West, so that should continue tonight.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The show also streams live on Peacock.
