(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Hundreds of photographs from the personal collection of a groundbreaking artist go on display in Chicago starting this weekend.
It's been nearly 70 years since Frida Kahlo death, and the worldwide esteem for the Mexican artist continues to grow.
The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood will display 200 photographs from her personal collection.
Museum director of visual arts Cesario Moreno says some of the photographs served as inspiration for her art.
The exhibit also “sheds light on how broad her vision was and how she really was somebody who thought beyond her time,” he said.
The exhibit runs through August.
