Poor Takaya Honda didn't know what he was letting himself in for when he sat down for an apparent Neighbours interview on April Fool's Day.
The David Tanaka actor appeared as part of a supposed chat (above) alongside fellow stars Richie Morris (Levi Canning) and Phoebe Roberts (Freya Wozniak), though things got increasingly awkward as his co-stars started a heated argument.
Of course, it was all a prank set up by Richie and Phoebe, the former explaining beforehand: "We're going to play a little prank on Takaya. We're going to have this fake interview to go in to talk about storylines."

Phoebe added: "We're going to get him to come in, he's going to be sandwiched in the middle, and we're going to argue over the top of him about something he was actually present for, and see what happens…".
Sure enough, Richie hit things straight off when Takaya joined them by recalling an "intense situation", Phoebe already irritated by insisting it was "not funny".
"You're boy wasn't going fast enough, and she just had a go at me!" he said.
"I didn't have a go at you man! I didn't have a go at you," she declared.

Sensing tension already, Takaya tried to lighten the mood by joking around. However, Phoebe continued the prank by telling Richie she asked him "not to bring it up".
Accusing him of calling her "disrespectful", things escalated further as Takaya joked to himself they were having a "lover's tiff". Another attempt to break it up proved fruitless, however, as they continued to bicker.
A diplomatic Takaya suggested that they were approaching the scene with "different energies", though Phoebe eventually said: "I'm OK, but maybe you guys should just do this by yourselves," before leaving the room.

When she eventually returned, Phoebe finally broke the joke to Takaya by declaring: "We're fine!"
"It's fine, it went for a long time though," Takaya admitted, before jokingly storming out. "Who's cool now! April Fool's!" he quipped.
As fans will know, Neighbours will be ending this summer, and earlier this year Takaya shared an important and emotional message with fans when it emerged that Channel 5 would be dropping the soap.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
