Bridgerton, Netflix’s Regency-era bodice ripper, just debuted its second season, and it’s proving just as popular as the first. The show has been such a success that creator Shonda Rhimes is returning to the well for an as-yet-untitled prequel series centered around Queen Charlotte. The series will focus on “the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton,” per TV Line.

Several cast members from the original show will turn up, including Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton). But there will also be several new cast members, among them Game of Thrones veteran Michelle Fairley, who played the stiff-backed Catelyn Stark, as Princess Augusta. “Determined to maintain her family’s power, the Dowager Princess does what it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch amidst a changing, modernizing Britain,” reads the official description.

Other new cast members include India Amarteifio, Corey Mylchreest and Arsema Thomas. We don’t know when the new show will be coming out; let’s get a title first.

Maisie Williams’ new Sex Pistols show coming on May 31

In other Game of Thrones cast member news, The A.V. Club reports that Pistol, Danny Boyle’s upcoming miniseries about infamous punk rock band the Sex Pistols, is premiering on Hulu on May 31. Maisie Williams plays punk icon Jordan, who’s aesthetic helped establish the look of the punk movement.

“This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever,” Boyle said in a statement. “It is the detonation point for British street culture…where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion…and everyone had to watch and listen…and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols. At its center was a young charming illiterate kleptomaniac — a hero for the times — Steve Jones, who became in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there.”

The six-part series is based on a book by Jones, a former member of the band. His bandmate John Lyndon, better known as Johnny Rotten, is very much against the show, calling it “the most disrespectful shit I’ve ever had to endure.” An ugly feud is very much in keeping with the spirit of punk, so well done.

Would the Game of Thrones showrunners ever return to the Star Wars franchise?

Finally, Game of Thrones showrunner Dan Weiss talked to ComicBook.com about the possibility of returning to the Star Wars universe. For reference, at one point Weiss and fellow GoT showrunner David Benioff were signed on to produce a new series of Star Wars films for Disney, but they exited in 2019.

The why depends on who you ask; maybe Disney rethought things in the wake of the Star Wars sequel trilogy or the finale of Game of Thrones, or maybe Benioff and Weiss’ schedule was just too packed after they signed a huge deal with Netflix (probably that one). But in any case, Weiss doesn’t see himself coming back to that galaxy far, far away. “Right at the moment, I’m so excited about Metal Lords coming out, and there’s also The Three-Body Problem that we’re working on and, between those two things, that accounts for about 150% of my attention span,” he said. When asked if that change in the coming years, he joked, “I manage expectations on my mental capacity.”

Metal Lords is Benioff and Weiss’ new high school comedy coming to Netflix on April 8. The Three-Body Problem is a much more ambitious sci-fi epic with no release date as of yet.
