Huge salaries for Adam Schefter, Adrian Wojnarowski revealed

Adam Schefter on the field

ESPN announced on Thursday that it has signed both Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski to contract extensions, and we now have an idea of how much money the network shelled out.

Sources told Outkick’s Bobby Burack that Schefter and Wojnarowski will each be paid $10 million a year with their new deals. The NFL and NBA insider both drew interest from sports gambling companies, but ESPN stepped up with the big offer to keep them.

Stephen A. Smith remains the highest-paid employee at ESPN. He makes roughly $12 million per year.

As Burack notes, the extensions for Schefter and Wojnarowski should have a big impact on the market for top insiders. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has a few years remaining on his deal, but The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Yahoo’s Chris Haynes have contracts that expire later this year.

ESPN has gone on a huge spending spree this year. The network also paid a massive sum to lure Troy Aikman and Joe Buck away from FOX.
