The UFC has released ‘Big’ Ben Rothwell.
On Thursday, the Algorithm-based Twitter account UFC Roster Watch revealed the news that Rothwell was no longer a part of the roster. MiddleEasy can confirm the news according to sources close to the situation. No reason for the release has been given yet.

History
Rothwell has been with the UFC since 2009 and has fought for the promotion 17 times. The fighter who reps Kenosha, Wisconsin, holds wins over Brendan Schaub, Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, Stefan Struve, and new fan-favorite Chris Barnett.
The 40-year old headlined once for the UFC, fighting Junior Dos Santos in Croatia. He would lose the fight via unanimous decision. He would also claim three performance of the night bonuses.
In recent years, his UFC career has been up and down. In 2019, Rothwell snapped a three-fight losing streak and then went on a two-fight winning streak, only to alternate wins and losses in his last four. Rothwell was last in action in November, where he got finished with punches for the first time since his UFC debut against Cain Velasquez.
Rothwell was scheduled to fight Alexander Gustafsson in May; however, the fight is now scrapped.
