The last couple of weeks have seen a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Serge Gnabry at Bayern Munich. The German winger has seen contract talks dragged for months without a conclusion on the horizon, which has raised doubts about his future at the club.

Gnabry wants to stay at Die Roten, but he is not keen to reduce his wage demands. The Bavarian club has already started thinking about contingency plans if they fail to reach an agreement with Gnabry. The German winger will be on the market in the summer unless there is a contract renewal by the end of the season.

Real Madrid has been linked with a move for Gnabry in the last few weeks. According to SportBild, David Alaba wants to team up with Gnabry in the Spanish club. The Austrian defender wants his former teammate to play at Santiago Bernabeu with him.

Alaba spent a decade at Die Roten before joining Real Madrid in the last summer transfer window on a free transfer. The Austrian defender also couldn’t reach an agreement with Rekordmeister for a new deal, which eventually paved the way for a move to the Spanish capital.

It is very normal for Alaba to want Serge Gnabry at Real Madrid. The German winger has been one of the best wide players in Europe over the last three seasons. His arrival will definitely add more quality to the attacking department at Real Madrid.

As per the latest reports in Germany, Gnabry’s first preference remains to stay in Bavaria. His form has been affected by the long-drawn contract talks, but he is hoping for a positive conclusion. Meanwhile, Die Roten will also prefer Gnabry to stay at the club. Getting a wide player to replace him will be a very expensive operation in the summer transfer window.

Bayern will definitely not allow Serge Gnabry to run down his contract if there is no agreement in the next three months. The German club has already expressed interest in RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, while there have been few links with Ajax’s Antony. Both players are reportedly viewed as possible replacements for Gnabry.

From Gnabry’s point of view, he will not be short on offers from various top clubs in Europe. Real Madrid may look to get him on a free transfer in 2023 as they are currently focussing on signing Kylian Mbappe. However, other top European clubs will come into the picture this summer if Die Roten decides to cash in. Nevertheless, there will be clarity about Gnabry’s situation by the end of the season.
