Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres have had a great month of March, going 8-3-2 in 13 games played. The month started with big wins over the Maple Leafs and Minnesota Wild, followed by massive victories over Jack Eichel and the Vegas Golden Knights, and then in the Heritage Classic over Toronto again.
Buffalo will hope to wrap up the month of March on a high note again, as the team welcomes the Winnipeg Jets to town on Wednesday night at KeyBank Center.
The Sabres are currently riding a six-game point streak heading into Wednesday's matchup, going 4-0-2 in that span. Buffalo is also coming off a comeback win of epic proportions on Monday night, beating the Chicago Blackhawks, 6-5 at the United Center. Buffalo trailed 4-0 early in the second period, and eventually came back to tie the game, and win the contest thanks to a fluky goal by Tage Thompson with 11.3 seconds in regulation.
One player who is playing some of his best hockey during this stretch of play is Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. In his 13 games played this month, the 21-year-old has played at another level with a goal and eight assists. Over the last two games, he's contributed offensively with four helpers.
Dahlin's recent play continues to garner the praise of head coach Don Granato, who believes we still haven't seen the best of Dahlin just yet.
"He’s not even close guys," Granato said during the "Howard and Jeremy Show" on Wednesday on WGR. "We just have to do the same thing we’ve been doing, let him do it and if mistakes happen, they happen.”
Another player who has seemingly found himself as we head toward the end of the season is Victor Olofsson. In Monday night's win in Chicago, the winger netted the first two goals of Buffalo's comeback and finished the night with three points.
"He’s putting the work in," said Granato of Olofsson. “You see it every day, and he takes it home with him and he’s doing the right things."
Granato also confirmed that the injury Olofsson has been dealing with for a majority of the season was a wrist injury that has affected his ability to shoot the puck as he normally would.
