  1. Goodbye

Well that was a fitting and emotional memorial to a sporting superstar.

Cricket will never quite be the same.

Shane, thank you for the memories...

    Shane Warne
  2. 'Dad was our shining star in life'

Brooke Warne, Shane's daughter speaking at his memorial: "I wanted the best for dad, and he wanted the best for me. He just wanted to be the best dad he could be. We were so lucky.

"I have to come to terms with the fact that my dad will never see me, Jackson or Summer grow up, or see us get married one day and have kids. I could go on forever about what we will miss out on together. But nothing will be more upsetting about how I already miss you

"Dad was our shining star in life and now he is shining down on all of us. We will do you so proud and we are so proud of everything you achieved."

  3. Post update

At the end of the ceremony Warne's children, Brooke, Jackson and Summer, unveil the new sign on the Melbourne Cricket Ground's famous Great Southern Stand - the place where he starred so often - which reads Shane Warne Stand.

  4. 'You were the best dad anyone could ask for'

Jackson Warne, Shane's son speaking at his memorial: "You were the best dad anyone could ask for and you were my best friend. Time with you went way too fast.

"We didn't have to do much to be happy together. Life was so easy and peaceful with you in it.

"Although I didn't go down the cricket path, you didn't mind. You just wanted the best for me. You told me manners were free and to always say please and thank you.

"You did everything with so much passion. I looked up to you as my hero and I admired how hard you worked. I am so proud that you were my dad.

"I feel like have been robbed as you have been taken way too soon but I won't forget the feeling of being around you, how loved you always made me feel and how safe I was when I was with you.

"I am so happy that I got to spend 22 years of my life with you as my father. I love you so much. I wish it could have been more, but it is what it is.

"I promise I am going to look after Brooke and Summer for the rest of my life and continue to try my hardest and make you proud, because I know you are watching over me."

  5. 'One of the happiest people I ever knew'

    Summer Warne

Here's more from Summer Warne, Shane's daughter speaking at his memorial: "There is comfort in knowing how loved around the world he was, and still is. How he inspired so many of you to play cricket and bowl leg spin. He touched so many people's lives and always wanted to help and support people in any way he could.

"When dad would walk into a room, the whole room would light up. He would make you crack a smile, even if you didn't feel like smiling that day. He would make you feel appreciated and so loved. His infectious smile and laugh is something I am going to forever miss. He was an inspiration.

"The kindness he forever showed, the reassurance you needed if you were down on yourself, the humour he had without even trying to be funny. And most of all he was so thoughtful and one of the happiest people I ever knew."

SMS Message: I remember seeing Shane play for Hampshire against Surrey at Whitgift School. He must have signed 100s of autographs - he was sat at a table like it was a book signing, with a long queue of children snaking round the ground - such a lovely thing to do. from Angela in Surrey

  8. 'You will always be with us dad'

Summer Warne, Shane's daughter speaking at his memorial: "Summer of '69 was the song that was played on Wednesday 2 March, two days before your passing, and the last time I saw my dad.

"You started dancing with happiness all around you, with a smile that lit up the whole room. We both started dancing without a care in the world and couldn't stop laughing at each other.

"Looking back at that now that moment was incredible special as they year you were born was 1969, and a verse in that song reads: 'But when I look back now, that summer seemed to last forever, and if I had a choice I would always want to be there. Those were the best days of my life.'

"You will always be with us dad. Just not in the way that we hoped.

"An icon and a legend. But more importantly, my dad."

SMS Message: I played as an overseas player at St Kilda in 1994/95 and was fortunate, as a very average English cricketer, to face him in the nets as well as have a beer with him. One morning in early January I was walking past the VCA office and he walked out, somehow remembered me and asked if I had tickets for the one-day international between England and Australia at the MCG. I said 'no' to which he promptly went back into the office and came out with two tickets. It summed him up even back in the early days of his career. I also am now fortunate enough to work for the Rajasthan Royals and the legacy he created there and being able to hear so many stories is amazing. Truly tragic loss in so many ways. from Nigel Muirhead

    BBC News at the MCG

Rohini Dalpathadu, originally From Sri Lanka, has lived in Australia for 32 years.

“Shane Warne is a well renowned figure not for not only for his cricket achievements but his charity," she said.

"He has helped people in Sri Lanka after the 2004 tsunami - he has gone and helped the people in Sri Lanka to rebuild those areas.

"So I just want to pay respects, because there's no other way that we can do it. And I thought, since they were having it at the MCG, I might even try and get some tickets for it. We have to honour great man.

"We have a great player Muttiah Muralitharan - and they used to butt heads all the time, but ultimately, they became best friends. So those are the memories I have, even all the antics he did on the ground. A great man, a great cricketer."
