Fire crews are battling grass fires in Sherman and Hemphill counties on Tuesday afternoon.
The Canadian River Bottom Fire on the Roberts/Hemphill County line has burned an estimated 250 acres and is 0% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service."
As a result of that fire, the Texas Department of Transportation said Highway 60 was closed from FM 3367 to the US Highway 60/83 split.
Hemphill County Sheriff Brent Clapp said they want people to be prepared to evacuate but nothing is mandatory at this time.
One home along Highway 60 was evacuated but it is unknown if the home caught fire after it was evacuated.
Residents in the area of Highway 60 near the dinosaur south of Canadian are being ordered to evacuate.
No southbound traffic is being allowed through either Highway 60 or Highway 83, according to Sheriff Clapp.
Canadian Fire Chief Scott Brewster encouraged people who live on the south side of town to water their lawns as a precaution.
He also urged people to take care of livestock, especially if the animals are pinned up.
The Sherman County Sheriff's Office said State Highway 15/119 was closed while crews responded to a wildfire causing visibility issues.
Officials in New Mexico said fire crews are battling a blaze along Highway 70 near the Midway Stadium in Roosevelt County. Travelers are being advised that smoke could decrease visibility on the road.
