Award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson speaks at Mount Union

"Brown Girl Dreaming" Author Jacqueline Woodson was the speaker for the 2022 Eckler Lecture at the University of Mount Union on March 23.

The University of Mount Union recently welcomed author Jacqueline Woodson to Alliance for the Eckler Lecture. Woodson has written dozens of books for adults and children. She is also a four-time Newbery Honor winner, four-time National Book Award finalist and also the 2020 Hans Christian Andersen Award recipient, among many other accolades. After the lecture, Woodson answered questions and signed books, including  "Brown Girl Dreaming."

The Mary W. and Eric A. Eckler Endowment in Literature and Drama was established in 1981 through an endowment given by Mr. John A. and Mrs. Dorothy (Nelson '29) Cummins in appreciation of the many years of service to the community and Mount Union by the Ecklers. Dr. Eric A. and Mrs. Mary Eckler were long-time faculty members in the Department of English at Mount Union.
