Leicester City’s loanee goalkeeper Daniel Iversen is touted by supporters as a potential Kasper Schmeichel replacement. Here is everything you should know.

Schmeichel’s shot stopper is nothing short of legendary. At the King Power, the international ‘keeper has kept many clean sheets, saved the Foxes from multiple defeats and made both routine and jaw-dropping saves.

The maelstrom of impressive attributes underlines the significance of the elder Danish ‘keeper. He is commanding, a leader, his reactions are sublime, and his sense of danger well-honed through experience. There is no doubt as to why Brendan Rodgers relies on the Dane over Welsh teammate Danny Ward.

However, due to a series of startling performances on loan over the last couple of seasons, Daniel Iversen is now in the limelight. With supporters beginning to consider life after Schmeichel, some now claim the younger Dane could be the replacement we need.

Leicester City’s Danish ‘Keepers

Iversen joined the club when he was only 18 years old from Esbjerg fB in Denmark. Similar to the signings of Jakub Stolarczyk and Brad Young, the player was making a name for himself at his previous club as well as proving to be reliable.

For the past few seasons, Rodgers’ side have sent the Danish goalkeeper on loan to Oldham, Rotherham, OH Leuven and Preston North End. However, Iversen is now considering settling with a club more permanently, rather than continually shifting around.

He wants stability, development, and most importantly, Iversen wants to play matches. At this critical juncture in his career, the player has already mentioned wanting to play in higher leagues. The Northern Irish gaffer has also commented on the player.

"“His journey is exactly what is needed for a young ‘keeper, he’s gone out at Oldham, Rotherham, he’s continued to grow and developed at Preston and that’s what the game is about for young players.”"
