Residents Challenging Aerial Tramway Between Union Station and Dodger Stadium

(Los Angeles, CA) — Some residents are fighting to stop a planned aerial tramway that would take fans between Union Station and Dodger Stadium. Opponents have filed a legal challenge, saying the one-and-a-half-mile gondola project is moving ahead without proper public input. Solano Canyon residents are worried about the gondola going just 40-feet above their houses, and also argue it would lead to more gentrification in the neighborhoods around Dodger Stadium. The plan is funded by former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, who is working with L.A. Metro on the details. Yesterday, McCourt’s company released a statement, saying the legal challenge comes without merit, and aerial transit is proven, efficient, clean transportation.
