HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - No. 7 William Carey softball picked up two big SSAC wins, sweeping the double header against Faulkner University Saturday afternoon, at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.

In game one, the Lady Crusaders took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBIs by Carley Kidder and Dee Dee West.  Faulkner would get a run in the top of the fourth but Carey answered with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Aleigha Walden would lay down a sac bunt to move Susie LeBert and Maranda Busby to third and second.  Brooke Tanner would then deliver a single to left field to make it 4-1 Carey.  Haley Nations continued her stellar performance in the circle, going six innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight.

It was all Carey in game two.  Rachel Rodriguez would leg out a triple with a shot to right center and Kidder followed with a sac fly to left to give WCU the early 1-0 lead.  An Eagle defensive miscue would add two more runs in the fourth and the Lady Crusaders would extend their lead even further in the fourth on RBIs by Chloe Oliver and Tanner to take a 5-0 lead.

WCU would finish things off in the fifth with three runs on two hits for the final margin.  Capping off an impressive day was starting pitcher Megan Dudenhefer who threw her first no hitter of her Carey career.

WCU is back in action Friday, April 1 as they take on #6 Mobile in SSAC play.  First pitch of the double header is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.
