Brandon Brooks on Wednesday was named the next principal of College View Middle School. Brooks, who said he is excited for the future of the school, will begin his new role on July 1.

He is leaving his current position as assistant principal at East View Elementary School — a role he has held since 2016. Before joining DCPS, he served at Jefferson County Public Schools as the middle school district lead for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

“I’m excited for what the future holds and just getting in here and building relationships and rapport with staff, families, students, community members,” Brooks said. “To be able to empower teachers to empower students is what I’m excited about.”

Brooks said he plans to support the teachers and students in a manner that will increase the current academic progress while guiding the school toward continued growth.

Dr. Amy Shutt, Daviess County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent to Human Services, said Brooks is “an outstanding leader who will lead College View on the journey to continue academic excellence and the goal of preparing students to be successful in life.”

“Brandon is a great addition to the secondary principal group, having served as leader in our district for the past six years, and brings a strong leadership background from Jefferson and Fayette counties,” Shutt said.

Brooks is a Daviess County High School alum who graduated in 2002. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2007 with a business administration degree, from Georgetown College in 2011 with a master’s degree in learning behavior disorders, and from Eastern Kentucky University in 2013 with a master’s degree in educational leadership.

He has earned certifications in areas of instructional leadership and administrative practices, and education of exceptional students/core content knowledge.
