Penn Museum to Present ‘Marian Anderson: Her Story in Style’ Event

The Penn Museum and the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society will host an event in celebration of the civil rights activist and first Black person to perform at the Metropolitan Opera, Marian Anderson.

The CEO of the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society, Jillian Patricia Pirtle, will speak on Anderson’s life story and work. There will also be access to a collection of archives related to Anderson and the “The Stories We Wear” exhibit featuring gowns she wore.

The event also includes tea and light snacks during the presentation.

The gathering will take place on May 7 at 1 p.m. at the Penn Museum.
