Waterbury Police arrest bank robbery suspect

One arrested for alleged bank robbery, the other for drug possession

Waterbury, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-The Waterbury Police Department Auto Theft Task Force arrested a Waterbury man on an active warrant, wanted in connection with the robbery at the People's Bank on Chase Avenue in Waterbury on January19th, police said.

Officers arrested Robert Creighton, 34, of Waterbury, along with a female, Kristen Whelan, 31 of Plainville. According to police, both attempted to flee before being taken into custody.
Police said Creighton possessed $1,772 in various currency, seized as evidence. Whelan, according to Police, possessed drug paraphernalia and three glassine bags containing heroin.

Creighton faces various charges including Criminal Attempt at Criminal Assault of a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment, Robbery and Larceny. Whelan was charged with Interfering with an Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of narcotics.
