Seminole County deputies said the suspect, 38-year-old Ahmed Raslan, is connected to the death of a 59-year-old Iraqi immigrant who was found dead at a mosque in Seminole County Thursday morning.
The victim was a maintenance man at the mosque, which is located in the unincorporated Sanford area.
The Seminole County Sheriff says Raslan made two posts on social media over the last day that he had planned to come to the mosque for the purpose of, "defending Caesar," and that he felt the mosque was Caesar's property.
Raslan posted a manifesto released by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office in which he claims to be the same bloodline as Julius Caesar and points to his family lineage as a reason for his rampage.
The post went on to say that Raslan intended to defend the property of the ancient Roman dictator, even if it meant murder.

Investigators say there was no indication Raslan was an employee of the mosque or had been trained to work there, and that no one at the mosque knew who he was.
An alert was placed for Raslan, which was when he was seen in Indian River County driving the victim's vehicle.
Indian River County deputies came into contact with Raslan in the parking lot of a Sam's Club in Vero Beach.

Body cameras captured the moment deputies approached the suspect. In the seconds that followed Raslan reached into his pocket and motioned toward the deputies. He then reached inside his vehicle — that's when deputies opened fire.
“He wanted to be shot," said Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers. "The way that he pulls his fingers out and points them at the deputies, the idea that they didn’t shoot him when he did that, is great control. The fact that they didn’t shoot him at that point, but when he dove back into the vehicle, they had no choice. I mean he’s just acting crazy and I understand exactly why they did it.
"Our guys did a great job today of neutralizing the threat and making sure he didn’t hurt anybody in Indian River County."
