A Santa Rosa City councilman has been served a search warrant in connection to a shooting case last fall. The Press Democrat reports that Councilman Eddie Alvarez was served the warrant after a council meeting in January this year where police seized three phones, including one that was issued by the city. The warrant is related to a shooting outside a Roseland bar last September where Alvarez reportedly was in attendance. However, Alvarez had left the bar prior to the shooting and police have stated he is not a suspect. SRPD declined to comment on why the warrant was served. Fogatia Fuiava and Ednie Afamasaga have been charged with the murder of Kenneth McDaniel stemming from that shooting and will face preliminary hearings in June.
